The 2013 Nissan Sentra comes with a 1.8 L engine that uses a timing chain instead of a timing belt. This is good news to many people because of the fact that the chain is much sturdier than the belts are and if all goes well You will never have to replace this part. If You had a belt You would need to replace it every 60,000 miles which isn't too bad but it is a bit of an inconvenience and the maintenance costs could add up over the lifetime of the vehicle. All You need to do to keep Your timing chain running well is to keep up with Your regular oil changes and You should be fine. -

The 2013 Nissan Sentra comes with a timing chain and not a timing belt, which is meant to last for the life of your vehicle engine
