The 2013 Toyota Tacoma comes standard with a timing chain on the engine. This is a superior option compared to a timing belt because it will not need to be changed. Usually the most expensive routine maintenance that You will have to do is change the timing belt every 60,000 to 100,000 miles. When You have a timing chain You will not need to do this since they should easily last over 300,000 miles. You should still inspect the chain at least once a year though. You will want to make sure that it is not loose and that it is free from any signs of debris or damage that could cause it to hang up on the gears.

The 2013 Toyota Tacoma comes with a timing chain and not a timing belt, which is meant to last for the life of your vehicle engine
