Does the 2015 VW Passat have a timing belt or chain?

I believe all three engine options for the 2015 VW Passat come with timing chains included rather than belts. There are a couple of good benefits to having the chain that make up for the negatives in my opinion. The first benefit is that there is no maintenance to be done on it. You don't have to worry about it wearing down and needing to be replaced every few years. It will stay lubricated from engine oil without any effort on Your part. The other big positive is that it's a very durable part and if You're lucky You may never have to replace it. Some Passat drivers are over the 200k mile mark with no issues from their chain. -
