The 2017 BMW X1 does come with blindspot detection which is included in the driver assistant package. For the xDrive28i. In the other trim levels the X1 does not come with the blindspot detection as standard or as an option. The warning lights on the side-view mirrors will blink on when a vehicle is in the blindspot when You are trying to merge or switch lanes. This is very helpful when driving in fast moving traffic and You have to make a split second decision. It is also helpful when You are driving and the traffic is congested which will allow You to switch lanes without turning Your head to look behind and make sure there is no one in the blind spot. The warning sensor is designed to utilize cameras and the sensor to detect objects that may be in Your blind spot.

The blind spot warning feature utilizes cameras or sensors to detect objects in blind spots. Therefore, it is not available in all vehicles. The BMW XI is one of the vehicles that does not have this feature.
