Beginning in 2017, BMW began fitting the X5 with head units capable of connecting to Apple CarPlay. This joins nearly every other model that BMW manufactures for US markets, with thirteen total models in 2021 coming equipped with CarPlay capabilities. If You're unaware, CarPlay is just as much of a safety feature as it is an entertainment one. Especially if You're already entrenched in Apple's proprietary ecosystem, it's an awfully convenient feature to have. Apple boasts its user-friendly interface as an alternative to drivers constantly having to look down at their phones, which in turn helps prevent more accidents. In the big picture, it's really a good thing that more manufacturers are following suit and equipping their vehicles with Apple compatible infotainment units.

This vehicle comes standard with Bluetooth technology. However, some consumers also look for Apple CarPlay. If you are willing to pay an extra $300, this feature can be added for you by the manufacturer. To get this feature in a used vehicle, it has to come equipped with it prior sale or install it yourself.
