Does the 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage have a timing belt or chain?

The 2017 MitsubishiMirage uses a timing chain to link the crankshaft and dual overhead camshafts. The positioning of the crank and cam shafts need to be precise to control the variable valve timing. The camshaft consists of a series of lobes which when rotated opens and closes the intake and exhaust valves. The valves allow the air and fuel mixture into the combustion chamber and then lets the exhaust gases out. Under normal operation, and with routine maintenance the timing chain can outlast the vehicle in most cases. The chain is located inside the engine and receives constant lubrication while in operation. If the engine oil level gets low or the oil quality falls this could have negative effects on the timing chain and gears.
