The 2017 Toyota Yaris is equipped with radar enhanced cruise control as well as a suite of standard pre-collision features normally found on upgraded trims. The Yaris' cruise control is enabled by a combination of cameras and radar detectors that automatically adjust driving speeds on cruise to prevent collisions. The radar monitors the distance between the driver's car and objects ahead of it, and reduces traveling speeds accordingly. Other features of the Toyota Safety Sense P package include pedestrian detection technology, automatic high beams and lane-departure warning. Owners are also equipped with 9 airbags, traction and stability control, active front head restraints and anti-lock braking. The 2017 Toyota Yaris is rated highly by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety that awarded it A4-star rating for safety.

Toyota gave the 2017 Yaris a huge upgrade for this year; the 2017 Yaris comes standard with Toyota's Safety Sense P (TSS-P). This includes adaptive cruise control.
