The 2018 Ford EcoSport doesn't suffer from unusual transmission failure but has been known to need the torque converter and/or clutch replaced prematurely. In only some instances shifting problems translated to early tranny failure and costly replacement. In general the 2018 model has been singled out for major engine malfunctions that include spontaneous combustion and the failure of the intake manifold that is covered under Service Bulletin #SSM47587. According to the NHTSA, the Ecosport may experience white smoke from the exhaust, excessive coolant consumption and rough idling. In addition the vehicle's auto stop/start is known to quit working when operating at a full stop, causing the car to stall.

I need assistance on what to do with a 2018 Ford EcoSport issue. It is currently in a repair lot with a major engine problem. The manager is holding my car, took my $1,100 without fixing it, tried selling me one of his cars, and I did not get a receipt for the repairs he did. This man will not give me back the money. Also he only accepts cash payment instead of a debit / credit card. I have a feeling he maybe cheating the government . The engine is not covered under warranty with Ford because it went over the 60,000 miles. I bought this car used at 36,000 miles. So that was my first mistake. I also did not do my oil changes at dealership. My second mistake. I did oil changes at Jiffy Lube and Havoline. Possibly the oil changes could have done the damage, but it would be hard to prove. I had just done the oil change the previous day and then the next day drove around 250 to 300 miles and the Low Pressure Oil light came on. It was making a funny noise. I could tell there was a problem. Checked the oil and it was full and it was not leaking. Went back to driving t to take it to an oil change place to find out problem. They were not sure and thought maybe the other place might have put wrong oil into it. I then drove it to a couple repair shops, but no one could assist me because it was Saturday afternoon. The check engine light had also come on. I dropped my friend off and parked my car to contacted a Roadside Service Company in that city. Third mistake I had no emergency Roadside Service coverage or other insurances or extended warranty coverage on vehicle. The man who looked at my vehicle and diagnosed it with computer. He called someone to find out problem. I was told I could actually drive it all the way back home, 300 miles. I knew that car would not last. I was not that stupid. He tried to say it was possibly the sensors. This is the same man who has my car right now. He made me pay cash for his RoadService. He left and not even 20 minutes had passed and the car totally died out on me. He came back and had the car towed to his place and charged me to drive myself, my two babies, and friend to hotel. I only got a receipt for the towing and RoadService. On Monday he called me and we ended up going there to talk to him in person regarding vehicle problem. He said he would have to charge me $2,100 for labor and parts. He took a $1,100 from me and said the other would be due after car was fixed. On Thursday, I received the bad news about the car. Said it ended up being an engine problem. There was broken timing belt teeth inside the engine. He says it is hard to find an used engine for such a new car. And a new engine would be too much. I was crying because I cannot afford to buy another engine for the vehicle. I got stuck with purchasing another vehicle at different dealership company. Now I have to make two car payments. I am going into financial loss because of this. I have my rent, car insurance, utilities, phone bill, two car bills, and still need money to pay for food and clothing for my children. What do I do? Do I sue Ford Motor Company for a faulty engine? Do I try to sue the oil change places? Or do I sue the mechanic who maybe taking an advantage of my situation and pocketing half of the cash.
