The transmission cooler line in Ford Explorer vehicles have been known to leak as they get older. The hose is made out of rubber and since it is carrying warm coolant near a hot engine it will break down over time. Most of the hoses in Your engine are considered to be consumable and will need to be replaced at some point in the life of the vehicle. If You happen to notice that there is coolant leaking from that hose You will want to replace it. Coolant leaks can lead to a loss of cooling capacity in Your engine. When that happens it could lead to overheating either the engine or the transmission. Either one can lead to permanent damage that would require a costly replacement.

Yes we were about 4 hrs from home on a family trip to the mountains. We noticed it slipping and were lucky to be near a dealership. They were able to get us going within 3 hrs. Thank you Lord!!! Hopefully no damage was done???
Yes, very upset and stranded in Bryson city, North Carolina. Ford dealer can not get the replacement transmission cooler for 3 to 5 days from Ford. Incurring hotel expense and not going to make it back to Work in Florida.

If your ford explorer's transmission cooler lines are leaking you will be able to tell by coolant left n the ground under your vehicle and most leaks will originate at the cooler, a connector, or a soft line.
