To change the tire on a 2017 Ford Escape, begin by placing the car in park and setting the emergency brake. Go to the trunk area and lift the floor panel, remove the large nut holding the spare down, rotating it counterclockwise. Pull the tire out, remove the scissor jack and tire iron/lug nut tool. Locate the lift point closest to the tire You are changing, there is an arrow on the rocker panel marking the spot to place the jack. Raise the jack to just touching the frame. Place the jack securely under the frame near the flat tire and crank it to raise the vehicle about five inches. Finish loosening the lug nuts, remove them, and gently pull off the flat tire. Fit the spare tire on the vehicle by lining up the rim center holes with the lug bolts. Replace the lug nuts and screw them on. Lower the vehicle to the ground with the jack. Remove the jack. Tighten and secure the spare tire with the lug wrench.
