The 2016 Toyota Tacoma has a sealed transmission and to check it You will have to go underneath the truck and find the fill plug and the drain plug. You will have to remove the fill hole and check to see if there is any fluid is available. Make sure You have the transmission reach the correct temperature before check the fluid. If fluid comes out of the fill plug You will know that You do not need to add any fluid. The recommended transmission fluid F-TYPEor the truck is Dexron ViATF fluid. You can purchase the transmission fluid for approximately $5 - $10 per quart depending on the quality and brand. The transmission fluid should be changed every 100,000 miles as stated by the manufacturer.

To check your transmission fluid just pop the hood and grab the dipstick. Put it into the fluid reservoir and note the level and add more fluid if it's low.
