To jump start the 2005 Chevy Equinox locate the release button in the middle of the engine's hood and depress to disengage the latch. Prop open using the Equinox' engine bay support. The battery is located on the right-hand or drivers side of the car next to the firewall in a black box. The positive battery node is housed under a red "+" sign. Pull off the plastic cover and connect the positive jumper cable to this node. A negative connection can be established by connecting the other end of the cable to the metal frame at the front of the bay. This will ground the connection. With cables connected to both the charging vehicle's battery and the Equinox, attempt a jump by switching on the powered truck. Leave the connection in place for a few minutes before attempting to start Your Chevy.
