If You need to open the trunk lift gate on Your Ford Escape there are three different ways that it can be done when You have the power tailgate option. The first way is simply walk up to the trunk and press the button on the underside of the handle and that will release and open it. The second way is You can press the button that is located inside the cabin to open it. This will be located on the dash on the lower right hand side and have an image of an SUV with the rear open. The third way to open it is to press and hold the lift gate button on Your vehicle's key fob and that will also open it.

On the 2013 Ford escape, the button for the lift gate is on the far right and for me, is not visible from the drivers seat unless I bend to the right. It's the last button in the row of defrost and heat buttons.

2016 Ford Escape doesn’t have a latch to open trunk from inside. You gotta open it from outside.

You can open the trunk of the ford escape by pressing the trunk button on the inside of the vehicle. Look for the control unit of buttons on the driver's side dashboard, to the left of the steering wheel and under the air vent. On one of the buttons is the outline of a car with the trunk/hatch door lifted. Press that button to pop the trunk door open.
