To reset the theft deterrent system in a Chevy Cruze disconnect the battery for at least 10 minutes. You will need a 10 mm socket or open-end wrench and loosen the battery terminals starting with the negative. Make sure You do not touch any metal surfaces when loosening the negative battery terminal, this could cause an arc and potentially damage electrical components. Position the loose battery terminals so that they do not touch the battery. After waiting for 10 minutes, reconnect the positive terminal first, and then the negative. Take care not to overtighten the terminals, they are made of soft metals. Ive been coming across this problem with my 2015 chevy cruze quite often. My solution is to let the car battery die out, and then have someone kind enough to boost the battery. This works for me 100% of the time i tried it.
Holding the unlock button on my fob while starting helped. Thank you.
