The anti-theft system implemented by Ford can be an amazing theft deterrent, keeping Your vehicle safe when You're not nearby. Heck, even if You are and dislike confrontation, the immobilizer can keep someone from stealing Your truck. Frustratingly, it seems that more often than not, it's also keeping US from using our OWN trucks, and has to be reset from time to time. Unfortunately, on the 2000 model year of the Ford F-150, You won't be able to perform an anti-theft reset on Your own. There are procedures to pair new keys, and procedures to disable some other anti-theft features, but the immobilizer needs to be reset by a Ford dealership. Sorry I couldn't be more help, but there's nothing You'll be able to do without a dealer, regardless of what some others here may say.
