As the driver of a 2001 Ford F-150 truck, You will find that over time, various lights and alerts will appear on Your dashboard. Most of these are just notifications of an upcoming maintenance that is due. These include filter and fluid changes, as well as component checks. Other times, they indicate something is wrong. Once the anti-theft alarm has been triggered, You will need to put it through a reset. First, You will need to place Your key in the ignition, and place it on the on position, without starting the engine. Next, You should turn the key back to the off position, then install the secondary system key. You will need to do this quickly, within a timeframe of 5 seconds.

What if keys are gone? I just replaced the ignition cylinder and have only one key to it. Is there a way to reset it without original keys and new ignition cylinder?

To reset the 2001 ford f150 anti-theft key, follow these steps-step 1 insert your first programmed key into the ignition of the car and turn it to the "on" position. Step 2: loop the first "off" key out, delete it from the starter, and install the second system key within 5 seconds. Step 3: loop in "on" and "off" and delete the second switch. Step 4: attach the key that you want to restore within 10 seconds, leaving it "on" for one second, and then loop it back to "off." Keep the key in the ignition until the security light is turned on, then remove the key to complete the programming cycle.
