When the immobilizer is not working in Your 2002 Honda Civic the first thing that You should do is try to reset the system. Resetting the immobilizer is pretty straightforward and just takes a few steps to do. The first thing that You will need to do is use the key in the driver's side door lock and lock and unlock the vehicle twice using the physical key. After that You can put Your key in the ignition. Turn the key to the on position without starting the engine and then allow it to sit there until the immobilizer light turns off. Once that light is off You should be able to turn over the engine with the key.

To reset the 2002 honda civic immobilizer place the key in the driver's side door lock, unlock it, lock it, then unlock it again. Then you can place your key in the ignition and let it run for at least ten minutes.

The battery went flat in my 2002 Honda civic, So I took the battery out and recharged it, I was in no rush and so I put the battery back in after a few days, unfortunately the immobiliser doesn't recognize the key anymore, I have tried all the suggestions above but the green key light still flashes
