If You need to reset the passlock on Your 2005 Chevy Colorado it is an easy thing to do. Usually the passlock will cause a problem with starting Your car since it will immobilize it. To reset the passlock You will need to just put Your key in the ignition and twist it to the on position and off position three times in a row without starting the engine. You will see the theft system light flash. Wait until that stops flashing and then turn over Your engine and start the car. If You have repeated problems with Your alarm system I recommend bringing it to Chevrolet to let them inspect the controller.

The security light won't turn off on my truck no matter how long I leave the key in the on position. Truck is still not starting.

To reset the 2005 Chevy colorado passlock put your key in the ignition in the on position, then back to the off position, then to the on position and then wait until the theft sys light stops flashing and then immediately turn the car on.

Here's the steps... 1. Leave your door open. Put your key in the ignition only, do NOT turn your key yet. You will hear the rapid dings, let it go for about 3-4 seconds. 2. Turn your key to the ON position only, do NOT start the engine. Wait until you hear the slows dinging sound, the lights on your dash will go out and the dinging sound will stop. 3. Now turn your key to the START position and start your engine. Hope this helps someone. :-)

I put a whole engine in my truck thinking that the engine was bad. The reason why it wasn’t starting. But it still won’t start. Now someone told me about the passlock system may have something to do with it not getting a spark or fuel. Can anyone tell me the next best step to take.
