If Your alarm is not working right in Your 2008 Dodge Avenger You may need to reset the anti theft system. This is a pretty straightforward and easy process to do and requires no special tools. To reset the anti theft system put the key in the ignition and put it in the on position, allow it to sit there for 30 seconds. After that try to crank it over. If it starts then You can drive off. If it does not start then You will want to turn it back off, then back to the on position and let it sit there until the anti theft light on the dash turns off. This can take up to 10 minutes. If Your system continues to have problems then the alarm's computer may need to be replaced.

To perform a reset of the 2008 dodge avenger anti-theft system, you will insert the ignition key and turn it to the on spot, and then attempt to start the engine (crank over), the engine does not run. With the key still in the run spot, wait 10 minutes, and the safety light will flash and then go out. Turn the key off and wait for 5 seconds.

Has anyone resolved this issue, as I am in the same boat. Brand new battery, clean working TIPM. Security lights flashing with key on ignition.
