To remove the skid plate on a Toyota4 runner the first thing You will need to do is remove the five 10-millimeter bolts and one fastener from the upper plastic shield between the metal skid plate and the bumper. There are three bolts near the bumper and two near the skid plate. Pry the fastener out with a flat screwdriver and pull the cover off. Next, using a 12-millimeter socket, remove the four bolts on the skid plate, two in the front and two in the rear. A second pair of hands will be useful when removing the last bolt to hold the plate up, to make removing the bolt easier and so that the plate does not fall on Your face. You will have to maneuver the plate a bit to remove it from the vehicle.
