Removing the speed limiter of Your Chevy Silverado is not a standard option available to drivers. The limiter restricts the Silverado's speed to 99 miles per hour and does this through the truck's ECU and a combination of gear and wheel sensors. To modify the system requires expensive firmware that can influence the ECU. Known as "tuners" or a "tuner chip" this technology can set owners back almost $9,000 in some cases. Other routes to disabling the limiter include disconnecting the wiring within the Silverado's' ECU responsible for reading and implementing speed controls. Most manufacturers do not make these diagrams or this information readily available. A more affordable approach to influencing the safety controls involves installing added devices that block the ECU's readings, but not all trucks are compatible with this method.

One technique is purchasing a super chips flashcal or flashpaq device. You should first install a 2pc driveshaft as the 2wd crew cab has a VERY long one piece shaft and it WILL reach its critical speed (which causes it to flex like a jump rope) and break very soon after the factory set limiter. If you happen to have a regular cab short box you might be okay, depending on rear differential ratio. My recommendation is research critical driveshaft speed and understand when you break a shaft (like I've done) you'll learn a very costly lesson. Be careful and good luck.

9k is a price reserved for vehicles on the race track, a bully dog can be had for about 300, and there are models for 200 or less, Keith f is correct you must take the driveshaft in consideration, problem is, is that most people will increase the limited speed setting the max when like my truck is set to 99 mph so you only want to raise it to 110 or 115 mph, if you want a little more highway top end
