The 2015 Ford Escape wastegate solenoid is located on the driver side valve cover. A wastegate is a valve that controls the flow of exhaust gases to the turbine wheel in a turbocharged engine system. The primary function of the wastegate is to regulate the maximum boost pressure in turbocharger systems, to protect the engine and the turbocharger. The wastegate has been know to stick open. The easiest way to see if You have a stuck wastegate is to pull the vacuum line off of the wastegate actuator. Then drive VERY CAREFULLY, since You will have absolutely no boost control. Just feather the throttle a bit to see if Your boost is still limited to 7-8 psi or if it climbs normally.
