The easy way to reset an engine control module (ECM) on a Chevrolet Silverado is to use a scan tool, or a mobile app paired with a bluetooth ODB-II dongle. I'm going to assume You're here because You aren't invested in doing things the easy way, so instead, let's do it the simple way. Pop Your engine hood, and find Your battery. Remove the nut from the negative battery cable and slide that off the battery. Now, go back to the interior of Your truck and turn Your headlight switch to the ON position; this'll drain the remaining power from the ECM. You should wait at least 10 minutes before You turn these off. Now, go put the negative cable back on the battery and tighten the nut. Your ECM should now be reset.

Why is the top answer about the ECM when the question is about the BCM?

2007 new body style Chevrolet Silverado BCM concern. No power of any kind, no lights, no electrical and the battery is charged, scan tool registers nothing and I'm wondering if resetting the BCM as started above (removing the black cable for10 minutes) will reset so I can get my truck working? Thank you
