The Chevy Captiva 'change transmission fluid' warning will come up on the car's dashboard when a fluid change is required. You can reset this by turning the key in the ignition over to the 'on' position and simultaneously press the gas pedal three times. Now, put the car off and start it fully. When the engine runs, it should trigger a reset of this warning. Keep in mind that it is not enough to just reset this warning light without addressing the need for a transmission fluid top up. If You ignore it, the warning would come back. Or even worse, Your transmission could start to malfunction. As a central and crucial part of Your car, You do not want it to get to that point.

There is no way without a scanner. Then you need to set it up for a 2009 Cadillac DTS (VIN K), go itno transmission, functional tests, reset Trans fluid. This is per GM TSB.

You can use either the Tech2 from GM which is like $350 on eBay or you can get the VXDIAG VCX Nano which is only $110 on eBay. I have not used either of those but if the dealer can't remove the message (i have an appt in a few days), then i will get the VCX Nano.

Not only do you need a Tech2 scan tool. You need to build it as a 2009 Cadillac DTS, VIN K. Otherwise you'll never find transmission oil life reset.

The gas pedal trick won't work. You need to have it reset with a scanner or take it to a shop.
