If You own a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado, You may find that You need to reset the ECU, or computer in the vehicle. It is somewhat easy to do, and should take about ten minutes. The first thing You will need to do is open the hood of Your truck. Next, remove the negative battery cable by extracting the nut with a 3/8 inch impact wrench. Remove the cable from the battery, and flip the switch for the headlights into the on position. This will completely drain the computer system of power. Finally, re-connect the cable to the battery, and replace the nut. Restart Your vehicle, and the the ECU should now be back to original settings.

To reset the computer on your 2011 chevy silverado remove the nut from the negative battery cable using a socket set or wrench. Slide the cable off of the battery and set it aside. Turn the headlight switch to the "on" position to drain the ecm of any remaining power. Wait at least 10 minutes, then turn it back to the "off" position. Replace the negative battery cable by reversing the previous steps. Tighten the nut until it feels secure, paying attention not to overtighten it. The ecm has now been reset.
