To reset Your 2002 Chevy Silverado security system put the key in the ignition, turn the key to the on position, and leave it on until the security light goes out. Usually 15min. Once this happens crank the truck without turning the key backward, just turn to start. This will reprogRam the transponder from the ignition switch.To prevent someone from using a fake or non-registered key in Your Chevrolet Silverado, GM installed an anti-theft system called Passlock. When the wrong key or other tool is used to crank the ignition, the Passlock system disables the truck's fuel system. Without the fuel system working, Your Silverado engine is impossible to start.

To reset the security system in a 2002 chevy silverado you will need to unlock the door with the remote, then lock the door with the button on the door and close it.

This vehicle doesn't have a transponder it's called a passlock 1, 2 or 3 and I've been going through hell for the past 4 months trying to get my vehicle to start and run

I changed out my directional switch and my ignition lock and could not get the Passlock to code. After several attempts I noticed my interior lights, head lights, door locks and audible chime was not working. Finally chased it down to the 10 amp TBC fuse in the lower right corner of the under hood terminal box. The fuse looked fine but after changing it the code procedure worked. Hopefully this will save someone time and headaches.
Turn your ignition on for 10 min.. 1 min off.. On 10 min.... Off 1 min.. On 10 min.. Start (3 times, driver door open).set your timer. I hope this helps.
Yes, I tried many of the suggestions. I left the key all the way in the on position for 15 minutes, with a battery charger on 2amp, started it (it starts just security light on) 3 times, the light was still on. I decided to change the 10amp fuse, it worked!
I replaced key tumbler and did a security reset, still won’t start. Put old tumbler back in and it starts. What is the problem?
