To reset the 2009 Chevy Cobalt anti-theft system, You start by turning the on-position ignition key and waiting for about 10 minutes until the blinking anti-theft system goes off. Switch off the key and go back to the vehicle to start the car to see if it has been reset. This may also be triggered by removing the battery or by draining power from the battery. This may also be triggered by the defective passlock sensor, which would cause the anti-system to go off and prevent the car from starting. There are several different problems that might alarm the device and most possibly involve some troubleshooting or an OBD diagnostic tool to diagnose the problem.

Resetting the anti-theft system is as simple as turning the ignition to the on position and waiting for the light to blink 3 times before restarting the engine.
