You will have two options to reset the security system on Your 2013 Kia Optima. The first will be to put the key in the ignition and put the vehicle in to the on position. Now hold down the lock button on Your key fob for several seconds until the lights flash on Your dashboard. It should now be reset. If this doesn't work or You don't have access to Your key fob You'll need to try this second option. Open up the hood and disconnect the battery from the vehicle. You'll need to wait 10 to 30 minutes and then reconnect the battery. The vehicle will now be restored completely to it's factory settings.

What if my key fob is the part I need to insert? Not sure if holding the door lock button down would work just the same if I'd of been able to hold lock on fob???

2013 Kia optimas dont have key ignitions guys, any answers from people who actually know about The optima in question?

To reset the 2013 kia optima protection feature, you must enter your kia and put the key in the ignition, turning it as far as it goes without starting the engine. Click the lock button on your key fob for three seconds, before the lights on your dashboard illuminate. Your key has been reprogrammed, and the alarm and the device have been reset.

I unplugged my battery for 30 minutesI. And the big grey brain box above the battery . Waited To connect the brain box after I connected the battery. Enclosed all doors cleared all seats except driver seat .Ithen turned key to on position . I then held the fob button till dash light blinked . Then reconnect the harness then system was ready to start car . Then I.startedmy car . Afterwards bought keyless entry alarm off temu for 15 bucks . No problems after that . One more thing to check before anything . Fob batteries and voltage on car battery REAL IMPORTANT COULD OF AVOIDED ALL THE BS .

We do have keyed ignition Shaun. Trying to make other people look stupid when you are the clueless one is not looking good for you. Keyless ignition was only an option.

2013 Kia optima’s have a key hole on the driver side door..You’ll probably have to go get a key made
