If the anti theft system is not working right on Your 2000 Ford Explorer You may need to replace it. First get into the car and roll down a window. Now go around to each door and manually press the lock down so that each one of them locks except for the driver door. Once the other doors are all locked and closed You can use the key to lock the driver's door. Allow the driver's door to be locked for at least 30 seconds, then use the key in the door cylinder to unlock it. This should clear anything that is wrong with the alarm system.
