If Your BMW has entered safe mode, it's a transmission feature designed to protect the wellbeing of the vehicle as well as the wellbeing of the driver -- it isn't recommended that You attempt to reset it until You've fixed Your transmission issue. With that said, it's not precisely possible to reset safe mode. It is, however, possible to reset the entire automatic transmission, which may (or may not) take the vehicle out of the mode. To do so, You'll need to turn the key position to two clicks (so the dash lights illuminate). Fully press the gas pedal for 30 seconds. Release the gas pedal and then press the brake. While holding the brakes, turn the ignition key to the RUN position, starting the engine.
