The anti-theft system on the Dodge Nitro was not designed to be reset by the owner and requires software for a hard reboot that can only be acquired through a visit to the dealership. The cost of having the Anti-Theft Module reset averages under $100. To disable the alarm if set off in error, press the "unlock" button on the Nitro's RKE transmitter or insert the key manually into the lock cylinder of the driver's door and unlock it. Either approach will successfully reset the anti-theft's alarm. However, to disable an interior anti-theft warning light You will need to reprogRam the module and this can only be accomplished by a certified dealer or Dodge specialist.

To fix the Dodge Nitro anti-theft mechanism, you will insert the ignition key and turn it to the on spot, and then attempt to start the engine (crank over), the engine does not run. With the key still in the run spot, wait 10 minutes, and the safety light will flash and then go out. Turn the key off and wait for 5 seconds.

My lady's son has a dodge nittro that had all those problems not starting n the alarm doing its own thing. First check the 30 Amp fuse that's located under the hood (J17) is the fuse number once replaced turn the ignition to the on position then press n hold the trip reset button. The guages n all lights (including the interior lights) will go up n down slowly 3 to 4 times then the Guage lights sum will turn off aswell as the alarm light once that happens the start the car
