If Your Toyota 4Runner's security system is not working properly then You will want to reset it to get it working again. The security system is used to disable Your ignition system when You lock the doors, and it will sound an alarm if the windows are smashed or the door is opened while it is locked. To rest the security system You will need to put the key in the on position without the engine running, then press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on Your key fob. You will hear a long beep when the system has reset. After that press the valet switch located near the hood release handle in the driver's footwell. That should make the system be completely reset and ready to go.

To reset the toyota 4runner's security system, turn the key to the "on" position press and hold the unlock/lock buttons on your keyless entry device. When you hear one long beep, release the buttons. Turn the valet switch (near the hood release) on and off quickly.
