On average, the Ford F-150 will last from 150,000 to 300,000 miles before giving up the ghost. This is, of course, with regular care and maintenance. If the vehicle is used for work, and You average about 15k miles a year with it, You can expect to get around 20 years of good service. However, it should be noted that the 2004 F-150 had some serious issues and Youd be best to avoid it entirely. On the opposite side of the coin for newer generations, the 2018 is considered to be one of the best F-150 engines. Theres a range of bad and good years, which can be easily researched, so be sure to find the best fit for Your needs.

I have a 99 Ford with a 4.6 that I bought used 10 years ago with 140,00 miles on it. I have replaced valve cover gaskets & the oil filter housing gasket due to a leak, an alternator, spark plugs. Was going to get rid of it but my kids keep needing a car. I've loaned it to 2 of my children so far. It has 266,000 miles on it now, original motor and transmission. It just keeps on going. I have two other Fords a 99 F150 4.6 4x4 and a 2002 Expedition 4x4 5.4 and both of those have roughly the same mileage 170000 on 1 + 165000 on the other. They are both running with the original Motors and Transmissions also. Just the facts.

.2001 supercrew 4.6l. Original engine made it to 304k before the oil pump went out, locked up as soon as it was turned off. Ran perfect before that though. Dropped another 90k mile motor/tranny in it and I’m at 311k right now.

I have a1999 Expedition with 5.4L. 266,000 miles. Bought it 11years ago with 202,000 salvage title, rough condition. Put $800 into it for deferred scheduled maintenance (parts and fluids)to get it back to fighting form. It towed 5000lbs trailer for 30,000 miles over 6 years. Then gave it to my son. He drove it through high school. Rebuilt transmission at 240,000.Now has 266,000 with no oil leaks. Its has need routine maintenance like control arms, shocks, alternator battery, Coil-on-plugs, headlights, brake calipers, brake lines, etc. All cheap fixes for an F150 It is a cockroach, the only thing left when everting else has died. Very reliable

I just wanted to say I own a 2009 Ford F-150 supercrew cab with a 5.4V8 it currently has 226,000 miles with no issues, out side of replacing the water pump. I change oil with Synthetic blend every 3 to 5 thousand miles. Service transmission once a year ( not flushing ) drop the pan, clean, Inspect, change filter, fill with new fluid checking temp to make sure filled to correct level. I always use clear 92 octane has. But have been thinking a rebuild is around the corner. I love my truck, feels great to drive. I'm getting ready to replace upper and lower arms, stabilizer bar bushings, front Struts and rear shocks. Motor is still running g strong
