The amount of o2 sensors for a 2009 Nissan Maxima is going to vary between engine models. The standard 2.5L 4Cylinder motor will have three oxygen sensors total. The upgraded 4.0L V6 engine is going to have a total of four oxygen sensors on the vehicle. No matter which model You have they will both have two on the catalytic converter. If You need to replace a fault o2 sensor it won't cost too much. A single sensor varies in price from $15 to $30. You can buy a pair of them for $25 to $40 total.

The number O2 sensors on the 2009 Nissan Maxima is based on the engine option. If you have the 2.5L inline-4 engine option, then you have 3 (three) O2 sensors. If you have the 4.0L V6 engine option, then you'll have 4 (four) O2 sensors.
