The amount of oil in quarts that the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 takes depends on the size of the engine. For the 4.3 L V6 it takeS6 quarts with a filter and the 5.3 L V8 and 6.2 L V8 engine take 8 quarts with a filter. The type that should be used in the vehicle iS5W-30 Synthetic for the 4.3 L V6 and 0W-20 Synthetic for the 5.3 L V8 and 6.2 L V8 engine. Oil is one of the most essential things for vehicles because it helps to keep the engine clean. However, it does not last forever so it needs to be changed every so often. You should do an oil change in the Silverado every 7,500 to 10,000 miles.

The Silverado comes with several types of engine. Before changing the oil, make sure to purchase the right oil for your engine. The V6 requires 6 quarts of synthetic 5W-30 while the V8 has to have synthetic 0W-30 and needs 8 quarts. Mixing these up can cause premature damage to the engine. The V8 diesel needs 10 quarts of 15W-40 oil to operate properly.
