The 2008 Chevy Equinox came standard with a 3.4L V6 engine but there was additionally an upgrade option for a 3.6L V6 engine. The standard engine will have a motor oil capacity of 4.5 US quarts while the upgraded engine will need 5.4 US quarts for a full fill up. Both of these engine will need to run on synthetic 5W-30 motor oil. The oil drain plug head size for these vehicles will be 15mm and You're going to need to use 24 ft-lbs of torque in order to remove it.

The 2008 Chevrolet Equinox 3.4 V6 engines takes 4.3 liters (4.54 US Quarts) and the 3.6 V6 engine takes 5.2 liters (5.49 US Quarts). When the system has calculated that oil life has been diminished, it will indicate that an oil change is necessary. A change engine oil light and a CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON message will come on.
