The 2016 Chevy Impala will hold 6 quarts of oil in the pan when empty. The bes oil to use is ACDelco dexos1 Synthetic Blend with a viscosity grade of SAE 5W-30. An alternative can be used as long as it meets the dexos1 specification and has the same viscosity grade. The Impala has an engine oil life monitoring system which monitors various engine actions to calculate when an oil change is due. The system will display the percentage of oil life remaining until an oil change is needed. When the oil change light comes on in the drivers display, You should have the oil changed as soon as possible within the next 250 miles or so.

The 2016 Chevy Impala needs 5.3 quarts for the 2.5 liter engine on the LS w/1LS and LT w/1LT. The trims with 3.6 liter engine - the LT w/2LT, LTZ w/2LZ, LS w/2FL CNG and LT w/3LT CNG- take a bit more oil at 5.5 quarts.
