The 2009 Nissan Murano has a transmission fluid capacity of 10.8 quarts. Nissan recommends only using Genuine Nissan CVT Fluid NS-2, this is a green fluid. Do not use Automatic Transmission Fluid, they claim any other fluid could damage the transmission. The fluid level needs to be checked by a certified technician because the dipstick is locked and requires a tool to a unlock it. The engine temperature has be at between 122°F to 176°F to get an accurate reading and that requires a scan tool to test the temp. It is recommended to have the transmission fluid replaced every 60,000 miles, most repair shops will charge between $160 and $180, with labor costs being $40 to $60 of that.
