Replacing and installing a new engine for a Ford F-150 should, on average, cost between $4000 and $8000. This price can vary dRamatically depending on Your locality, as well as Your access to spare parts. Expect spare parts, i.e a replacement engine to cost between $4000 and $6000, depending on the trim of Your F-150 in particular. The other significant expense that You need to consider is that of labor. This can, once again, vary drastically depending on Your locality. Youre likely to be able to get the lowest price for service at an authorized Ford Dealership. That being said, if there isnt one accessible enough to You, You may need to get Your engine replaced at an auto shop, which is likely to be on the more expensive side.

Having engine replaced now in 2008 F150, engine is a 3 valve 5.4 Triton V8. Total is $6500. Average labor is 20 hrs for job at $100 an hour. Going with a Ford replacement due to easier install saving 5 hours. Engine is $5000. Yes ucan save some money with an off brand, but risk more issues in the future.

Considering the stupid high cost of buying a new or used truck these days, seems like the only way to go is to replace engine and drive train as required and keep what you have. I'd rather spend $15k on it and have another 150k miles of life expectancy than $50k for a used truck that's not much newer with the same mileage

The so-called 'Top Answer' that stated the lowest cost for service is at a Ford dealership is absolute foolishness. I'm a mechanic and a 2005 short block transfer will take at least 20 hrs min.

2010 F150/Supercrew 4x4 5.4 liter. Truck is in great condition. Very clean. Has over 300,000 miles. Broke down. Had it towed to local Ford dealership. They said it jumped timing & needs engine replaced. Quoted me a price of $12G for Ford factory remanned engine w/3 year/unlimited millage warranty. The tranny has the same amount of miles. Decided to go ahead & have it replaced while they have the cab off. Total for both, $17G. Being that the truck is in great shape I decided to have both replaced instead of spending the time to go find a good used truck for around the same price & never knowing how long it'll last until it might would need major repairs. Might could have found someone to do it cheaper but the mechanics at the Ford dealership know their s**t.

$1,000 out the door you don't need a warranty with a new engine all the other parts on the truck are 7 years old that's my opinion
