The type of oil that is used in the 2010 Chevrolet Malibu iS5W-30 Synthetic for both the 2.4 L 4Cylinder and the 3.6 L V6 engine. The capacity for the Malibu iS5 quarts with a filter for the 2.4 L 4Cylinder and 5.5 quarts with a filter for the 3.6 L V6 engine. Oil is used to keep the engine clean and to help with friction when parts are rubbing together. The oil and the filter should be changed every 3,000 to 5,000 miles because it goes bad after a while. It is pretty easy to do a change and only takes about 10 to 20 minutes and some of the tools needed are drain pan, ratchet, socket and socket extensions.
