The 2014 Toyota Tacoma useS4.4 quarts of oil in the two wheel drive version, and the four wheel drive version useS5.2 quarts of oil. Toyota recommends using SAE 0W-20 oil as well when You need to change it. There are two major types of oil on the market, conventional and synthetic. Conventional is petroleum based and synthetic is engineered in a lab to give You better lubrication and protection than conventional. Synthetic also lasts longer meaning You can go farther between changes. On average You can go 7,500 miles with synthetic and 3,500 to 5,000 with conventional. You should always check Your oil at least once a month to make sure that it is full and free from signs of burning or debris.
