The 2012 Toyota Camry's 2.5 liter 4Cylinder engine is equipped with A6-speed automatic transmission that useS6.9 quarts of Dexron III/Mercon ATF fluid. A transmission flush and filter change is needed every 30,000-50,000 miles. The fluid levels should be checked when the transmission reaches 120 degrees. Position a drain pan underneath the vehicle and transmission. Remove the tranny drain plug with A6 mm socket and as the engine runs, allow the fluid to drain. Darker/blacker fluids indicate the need to flush and replace. Make sure the vehicle is level for accurate draining. Release the cover/pan with a 10 mm socket to access the filter housing. With the engine switched off, remove the two bolts securing the fill plug behind the front wheel. Use a funnel to refill.

There is no dipstick for the transmission fluid on a 4 cylinder 2012 Toyota Camry.

To add transmission fluid to the 2012 Toyota Camry park the car on an even surface and pop the hood. Locate the transmission and look for the dipstick sticking out, it will have a round o ring on the end. Pull it out and wipe it clean, then stick it back in and see were it is on the fill level. Locate the intake spout on the transmission, then insert a funnel if needed. Pour fluid into the vehicle until the dipstick show that it is full. Put the dipstick back, close the intake spout and you are finished.

Run car until normal operating temp. Lift the car lvl. Turn on the car and leave it in park. Remove drain plug. If you have a constant flow it’s too much oil if you have just a drip it’s too low. Add oil through the fill screw(driver side behind the front part of the front tire, must remove 2 bolt cover) until you get a solid stream then stop. Wait until it starts sputtering and screw back the drain plug. Be quick about its best if 2 people are working together or required/proper tools are needed. Note:Oil level sleeve is past drain plug. Be sure that the sleeve is tight for proper level reading. Use a 6mm hex Allen Wrench to tighten. It should be the same as the drain plug.

Place a funnel in the mouth of the transmission dipstick tube. Pour transmission fluid in half-quart intervals. Check the fluid level each time. Continue to fill until the level indicates full.
