You'll want to use some Dexron transmission fluid to top off Your 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt; hopefully You've bought some and have it handy. Also, You should fully change out the tranny fluid every 50,000 to 60,000 miles, depending on how hard You've been driving it, or where; dirt roads and highly polluted areas, like big coastal cities, are going to shorten the life. Pop the hood of Your vehicle and look for the small black plastic fill port. You can unscrew this just like a bottle cap, using only Your fingers, though if You've got a weak grip (hey, no judgement here) You can just use a pair of pliers. Stick a funnel into the fill port and just pour in enough fluid to get the reading of the dipstick between the two markers for min and max.

There is no dipstick on a 2005 cobalt. There is a black screw on cap on the top of the trans to the right of the motor to add transmission fluid.
