There are some simple guidelines You can follow for getting the best mileage out of Your Ford Escape. The first thing to keep in mind is that You should always try to avoid aggressive driving. Take it easy when braking and accelerating and You'll avoid wasting fuel and You will also keep Your vehicle from wearing down as quickly. You can also try to avoid speeding when it's not necessary. Keeping Your vehicle at 50 to 55 mph is better for fuel efficiency than getting it up to the 70s and 80s. Also try to keep Your windows closed and only run the AC while on the highway. It's not going to make a huge difference but it's slightly more efficient. -

I do everything stated. I change the oil as recommended. I set cruise control each time. I do not stop. I drive to work and back, around 64 miles a day. I can only get up to 23 mpg? Is there something I am not doing?

The way you drive and how you maintain your ford escape can help you get the most gas mileage from it. First, you should press the gas pedal for smooth acceleration and go easy on the brakes. Plus, remember that speeds higher than 50 mph decrease fuel mileage. Next, save your ac for highway driving. Closed windows and sunroof produce less drag for improved fuel economy. Further, turn off the engine if your vehicle is stopped for more than a few minutes. Equally important, be mindful of how much weight you add to the vehicle when driving it. Also, maintain your vehicle, including the engine, tires, motor oil quality, fuel tank and cap as well as the oxygen sensor.

Tires also have an effect on fuel efficiency

That’s what I get whether I’m in town or on the highway. I don’t think they get what they are rated.
