If You want to open the trunk in a Ford Escape from the inside of the vehicle it is a fairly easy process. All You will need to do is press the trunk button that is located on the driver's side of the dashboard on the left side of the steering wheel. It will have a picture of an SUV with the rear hatch lifted. There is no way to easily manually open the tailgate from inside the SUV if You are in the cargo area and want to get out. You will need to get to the front of the car and press the button. If Your tailgate is not working then You will want to check the fuses as well as the wiring to the motor for any damage.

To open the trunk of a ford escape use the key fob or the release button in the cab, you can find it located on the console below the dashboard air vent on the driver's side.

Manual release on the 09-12 model Escapes requires you to pry the back hatch panel off from the inside, this is easier if the glass is open but doable with it closed. Reach down and theres a small latch on the hatch side underneath an electric motor, if you jiggle the latch it should open the Hatch.
But what do i need to do if thefob key and the release button in dashboard does not still open the backtrunk? When i checked the trunk door it has not been properly shut and closed but cannot be opened? Kindly help me how to open thanks

For all of you out there- believe it ornot , I own a 2013 Ford Escape SEL & it does not have an interior ( trunk-release) Button and the FOB. Is also blank - go figure ( gotta Moon-roof and a Turbo though ( Sel) model MAKES NO SENSE!! GO FORD !!!!!!!!!😳😳
