The oil light in Your 2014 Volkswagen Passat comes on to let You know that the oil is reaching the end of its protection lifespan and should be changed soon. Once You have changed the oil You will need to turn off the light which will also reset the internal counter. To do this You will need to start with the ignition turned off. While pressing the 0.0/Set button, turn the ignition on but dont actually start the engine. While still holding the 0.0/Set button, use Your left hand to press the gauge display button which is located to the left of the steering wheel. Then You need to turn the ignition off and You are good to go.

To perform an oil reset on the 2014 vw passat oil you need to turn it on, but do not start the engine. Find the reset button on the console dash and hold it. When the light blinks and stops turn the vehicle off and wait 5 min. Your oil is now reset.
