If the check oil level light on Your Mitsubishi Outlander is illuminated, the first thing You should do is, predictably, to check the motor oil level. If You're at a sufficient level and the light has not gone out, You may have one of two different problems. Either Your oil pressure sensor has gone bad, or You'll need to perform a fairly easy reset. In the case of the latter, You need to first reset the service schedule. This can be done through the main menu of the vehicle, but it's not too intuitive; once this is reset, You should notice Your check oil dash light go out. If not, then You should begin looking to other solutions, like the aforementioned oil pressure sensor.

To perform a mitsubishi outlander oil light reset you will turn the engine on if service is due the display will show śservice requiredť when the vehicle is turned on while the message is displayed press and hold the down arrow button on steering wheel for more than 1 second the service interval will reset to the default setting turn the ignition off and then start the engine to confirm the message/light has been reset

Right, I had the same problem on my outlander 2013 diesel. Turned out it has nothing to do with oil pressure or oil level sensor (because it does not even have the level sensor). The check engine oil level light comes on when engine ECU has calculated how much fuel has gone into oil due to failed DPF regenerations, and it predicts that oil level could be too high, basically hinting that oil now is too much diluted with fuel, and needs changing. When shop performs the change, they need to reset that counter of failed regens on ECU, so it can start a new cycle. Crazy how design like this could had gone into actual production of the vehicles.

Display does not show how much oil is remaining.
