Throughout most model years of the Ford Ranger, You'll find the fuel filter inline with the fuel line, mounted to the driver's side frame rail under the back of the cab. It will be a metallic canister, slightly smaller than a 12 ounce beverage can. In order to remove it, You'll need a few tools and some good protective eye equipment. When You first remove the fuel filter, the system will still be under pressure. First, disconnect the fuel pump's fuse with the engine running. It will stall and relieve some of the pressure. Push in the green or orange tabs on the fuel filter, and pull the lines off. Replace the filter with Your new one the same way, being careful to not damage the tabs in the process.
