From time to time, You may see fault code P0012 on Your 2006 Ford Fusion -- this indicates that there's an issue with the VCT (VVT) solenoid. Replacement is a long and involved procedure; the primary issue is access. First, You'll need to remove the valve cover and the valve gasket, which is an involved procedure in and of itself. The solenoid itself will be found on the upper left side of the block, and is secured by a single bolt. It's recommended that You surround the area with rags, since the bolt is easily lost in the engine once removed. When You drive it out, You'll get a bit of oil leak; this is perfectly normal. To replace, insert the new VCT into the slot; the difficult part will be getting the rest of the engine back together.
