The only way to reset the airbag light in a Ford Explorer is to have the issue diagnosed and fixed. There are numerous reasons that would cause the light to illuminate. A bad airbag module is basically the the computer that monitors the airbag sensors. Is the module detects an issue with one or more of the sensors, the dash light will illuminate. There are sensors in the front and rear bumpers, seatbelts, and doors. It could be that a electrical connector is loose or one of the pins are damaged. It will cost around $180 to have one replaced. Before You pull out Your wallet, check the fuse block behind the glovebox to see if there are any fuses related to the airbags that is blown. If You happen to discover a bad fuse, once You replace it, cycle the ignition from off to acc. Back to off and then start the engine, the light should go away in less than 10 seconds.

Put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position. Watch for the airbag light to illuminate. It should stay illuminated for about 7 seconds and turn off. After it turns off, turn the switch off and wait 3 seconds. Repeat the steps one or two more times and then turn the engine on.
